Class of 1990

Yep...that's my graduation year all right! (So I'm revealing my age!)
Last night was the "Casual Get-Together" part of our reunion at Embassy Suites for all of us old folks. Just for the record...I don't feel old. We had a lot of fun seeing familiar and some not-so-familiar faces. My graduating class consisted of about 600 students, so it was hard to know everybody!

Randy (who knew a lot of my classmates since he's from Huntsville too), Me, and one of my best friends from high school-Erika

My good friend, Mary Lee and her date. I have known Mary Lee since First Grade!

Gary, Me, Deana, Erika, Kim, and Tina
We were all big buddies in high school, and some of us even went to college together. I haven't seen some of them in YEARS!

Erika, Kim, and Tina
Kristine, who I met the first day of high school in 9th grade English, and Erika (I didn't know I had this many pictures of Erika! But we stayed next to each other most of the night trying to recognize faces and remember names.)

And...my handsome date and me!
Today we went on a tour of my high school. I took Caitlin with me, and boy was it eye-opening! Lots of things have changed, but lotsof things have stayed the same--isn't that true in most areas of our lives?

The tiger mural in the lunchroom has been redone. It's a lot better, I promise!

This painting on the gym wall is still there.

And the big letters in front of the school are still there, thank goodness! We took many a picture in high school in front of these letters. But back then we were braver and would climb all over the letters.
It has been a fun weekend down memory lane!

Congratulations Bekah!!

So, there was something in the drinking water at my school this past year. These 3 beautiful girls...

Ashley, Bekah, and Amanda...were all pregnant at the end of the school year. We gave them a joint shower on the last day of school. How much fun did we have!!

These are my FaBuLoUs First Grade Friends with our 2 preggo girls at the shower.
Well....Bekah in the pink had her sweet baby girl on Monday afternoon! Her name is Sophie Layne, and we went to visit them in the hospital yesterday.
Funny story: I was holding little Sophie Layne, and Harrison was totally amazed at this tiny baby. He wanted to see her tiny toes, and he couldn't believe how small her fingers were! It was really, really sweet.
Bekah asked him if he wanted one of those at our house, and he said, "Yes!! I want two!! A boy and a girl."
Can you imagine!?!

Is It Time Already?!?

No matter how much we have tried to deny it, summer is coming to an end and school will be starting very, very soon! While this happens every single year, this time it is different. My baby will be starting Kindergarten!!! I keep asking myself how this happened. How has this much time passed? I thought it was bad when Caitlin started K, but I blamed it on just having a baby, in the midst of moving into a new house, and ALL those hormones wildly raging! I really think this time is harder. Maybe it's because he's my baby, and when he starts K--he won't be a baby anymore!!
So we went to buy these....

and I think I teared up a grand total of 50 times at Wal-Mart!! I know buying scissors and crayons should not make a grown woman cry, but when you know your baby is going to use them to make an adorable Thanksgiving placemat, it just starts the waterworks!

I also decided I needed to start on my own classroom. I am continuing the western theme this year. Can you tell?!? Now this is my cup of tea. I absolutely love writing each child's name on their desk name plate in anticipation of our year together. I can't wait to meet each of these sweet little children!
I know it is going to be a GrEaT year! And I know I am going to be amazed at how much my children learn!

Jenna's Commenting Challenge

Jenna is hosting a commenting challenge starting tomorrow. She has challenged each blogger to comment on 10 blogs each day this week. I absolutely LOVE reading other's blogs, but I am the world's worst at commenting. However I get so excited when others leave comments for me. So I thought this would bring me out of my shell-ha!

Our New Toy or Randy's Anniversary Presents for the Next 4 Years!!

WE GOT A BOAT!!!!!
Randy has wanted a boat ever since I have known him. In fact, I gave him a Matchbox boat on several occasions. And every present that he opens, he shakes it first, then says, "Is it a boat?"

So.....on Friday we drove to Newnan, GA, and bought a boat!
We have had so much fun already on it.

Today we took my niece, Stephanie, out on it with us.

Harrison thinks it's pretty cool to have our own boat.

Caitlin likes all the butterflies that hang around us when we're out on the boat. She got this one to land on her by sprinkling Fun Dip powder on her fingers.

Randy can even fish off of it!

And we've got a tube to go out in! Caitlin and Stephanie had a ball on that.

Then Harrison wanted a turn with Mommy, of course!

But one of the very best things about the boat is getting to act like a kid with your own kids!!

Girls Night Out

Tonight I had the privilege of dining with four wonderful women, 3 of whom I met in a not so ordinary way. We are all Bloggers and have been following each other's blogs for quite some time.

Joy, Jennifer, Kera, Sarah, and Me

Actually some of us already knew each other outside of Blogland. Let's see if I get this straight:
  • Sarah and I taught together for a few years.
  • Jennifer and Kera went to elementary school together.
  • Sarah's husband and Joy's husband grew up together.
  • Kera and Joy go to church together.

And now we are all friends and planning on more GNOs!

Little Fishies

Harrison had his last swim lesson today.

His class: Decklin, Harrison, Jillian, Megan, and Ethan

Look at my little fishy!
And I am extremely proud of this...

he jumped off the diving board!!! He has been so scared to do this, but now he has the confidence and the ability to do it!
I am so thankful to my friend, Brenda, for teaching him the necessary skills he needs in the water.
And to celebrate the last day of swim lessons, we went to the pool and then for Chinese food!

Doctor's Visit + Shots =

Harrison had his 5 year check-up today with Dr. H who we absolutely LOVE!! In fact, Harrison still wanted to go see his favorite doctor even though he knew this was the BiG visit with shots. He did great with the shots-just cried a little, but held on to Mommy for dear life!
Harrison is a very healthy five-year-old who is on the small side. He is 41 inches tall which is in the 10-25th percentile and weighs 38 pounds which is in the 25th percentile. Doesn't matter to me as long as he is healthy!! He passed his vision test with flying colors and could do everything Dr. H asked him to (jump on one foot, draw a circle, name his colors, count to ten, etc.).
I am so proud of my baby boy, and I told him that afterwards as we were eating our cupcakes.
He very matter-of-factly said, "Dr. H said that I had the last of my baby shots today. Now no one can call me a baby!"
Makes me want to cry!!!!

On With The Show

Caitlin got involved with Broadway Kids at our church this summer. It was the brainchild of our Music Director, Ms. Susan. Her idea was to have 12 kids sing show tunes before each performance of "The Sound of Music" dinner theater. Caitlin was super excited about the group when she first read about it in the church bulletin at the beginning of the summer. She did not miss a single practice! She even rehearsed all the songs and dances at home every single day.
So Thursday night was the dress rehearsal with a few missed steps and words, but on opening night Friday they did awesome!! They also did fabulous on Saturday night. Today was their third performance, and let me tell you...

IT WAS PERFECT!!!!!

She loved being up on that stage!

She was part of the tap group to "Give My Regards to Broadway" and did an excellent job!

She was also picked to sing a duet to "Tomorrow" from Annie that turned out beautiful.

Can you tell she is definitely cut out for the stage?!?

I love the expression on her face during the final number.
I think I was the proudest Mom there!
And, of course she had some fans show up...
Sarah, one of her best friends and

Stephanie, her favorite girl cousin.
So we have realized that she most certainly needs to be on stage!

Silver and Gold

Last night I was lucky enough to get to meet up with 3 of my oldest and dearest friends at Cantina Laredo.

We had a great time catching up on each other's lives.

I have known Kim on the left since First Grade! We went through many trials and tribulations growing up together. I inherited Christy on the right as a friend through Randy and Kim. She went to high school with Randy and then roomed with Kim at UNA. They were both in my wedding, and I was in both of their weddings.
I have known Suzanne since elementary school also. She is the smart one of the bunch because she went on to law school after college.
Who knew that we would have so much to reminisce about? We ended up closing the restaurant down!

Give My Regards to Broadway

Caitlin has been rehearsing her heart out these past few weeks.
She is part of the Opening Act for our church's Dinner Theatre this weekend and next.

One small group is tap-dancing to one Broadway song and...

the entire large group is singing to several other songs.

It is right up her alley for this little performer!

Swim Lessons

Harrison started swim lessons on Tuesday at my friend, Brenda's pool. She is an excellent swim teacher, but that is no surprise because we taught together until she decided to become a Stay at Home Mommy.

Kick, kick, kick

Here he is practicing with his face in the water. He did a great job of following directions on Tuesday and even earned a prize from her Prize Box.
Harrison was so excited to go back to Swim Lessons on Wednesday that he was up before the sun!

He couldn't wait to jump in the water to Mrs. Brenda!

BIG Splash!!!
He already LoVeS the water so much and does a great job of swimming underneath it, but I want him to get the other necessary skills to be a great swimmer. We've had a great beginning, and I can't wait to see what he can do at the end.

Friends, Food, Fireworks, and Fun

We started our Fourth of July celebration a day early. First we went swimming (always a fun activity around our house), then Daddy grilled out yummy, yummy steaks! After getting our tummies full, we headed out to Joe Davis Stadium to watch their fireworks after the baseball game.

OOOOOOHHHHHH.....AAAAAHHHHHHHHH
Then on Sunday, to start our Fourth of July celebration, we heard a great sermon at church. We then headed to Casa Blanca for an impromptu lunch since we were all starving. Nothing says Happy Birthday America like taquitos, chips, and salsa.:)
In the early evening our next-door neighbors came over to grill out hamburgers and hot dogs-now that's all-American food! After enjoying that delicious meal, we all headed to Dublin Park to get a good spot to watch the fireworks.

Here we are just waiting for the big show: Todd, Shelby, Meredith, Rush, Caitlin, Harrison, and Grayson. Do you see Randy in the background?

After the beautiful show, the Waggoners came back to our house where the kids had a "semi-sleepover." They were all in pajamas and laid on sleeping bags watching a movie. Except for Harrison--he fell asleep in the car on the way home.
We had such a great weekend celebrating with our friends!
Happy 4th of July!!
