Poor Tired Baby!

On the way home from school the other day, all I heard from the backseat was, "Mommy, I'm tired!!"
As soon as we got home, Harrison laid down on the couch with his Kindergarten Workbook. He was awfully quiet after awhile so I went and checked on him. This is what I found...

More Babies!

Remember my three pregnant friends at work?!?

Ashley, Bekah, and Amanda
Well since Bekah already had her precious little Sophie, we have just been waiting and waiting and waiting for the other two to go.
We got our wish right after school started.

Amanda had little (BIG) Brycen on August 11. He weighed 9 lbs 11 oz!!!!! Can you believe that big baby?!? He is so sweet.

Ashley had little Micah on August 16. He wasn't nearly as big as his friend, Brycen!
He only weighed 7 lbs 7 oz.
I am so very happy for my new Mommy friends!!

2, 4, 6, 8...

Caitlin attended the Bob Jones Cheer Clinic for the second year in a row and LoVeD every minute of it!! Her friend, Taylor, spent the night with us on Friday, then went with Caitlin to the Cheer Clinic. Those two are like peas in a pod! They're good girls, though.

They had so much fun demonstrating what they had learned at the Clinic.

And they got to be in a group publicity shot for Bob Jones!

Of course, they only got to go because of Caitlin's most favorite cheerleader in the world--Reagan!
What a fun way to spend a Saturday!

Early Wake-up Call

After a loooooong first week of school, I was well-prepared to sleep in this morning.
However, Harrison had different plans for me.
At 6:15 this morning, he whispers in my ear, "Mommy! I dropped my monkey in the toilet with my pee-pee!"

A Funny From Harrison

Right after school yesterday, Harrison was showing off his toy he got from the Treasure Chest at school.
My friend, Nakita, asked him, "So you were good ALL week long and got to get in Mrs. Terrell's Treasure Chest?"
Harrison said, "Yes ma'am, I was only bad in Pre-K!"

First Day of Kindergarten--sniff, sniff

Today was Harrison's first day of Kindergarten!! They do a phase-in of Kindergartners so he got to stay home an extra two days and start today. I'm just gonna put this out there....WHERE DID THE TIME GO?!? It seems like just yesterday I was holding my sweet two-month-old baby boy in my arms as we walked Caitlin to her Kindergarten class. I cried and cried when we dropped her off, but I blamed it on the hormones. Today I had nothing to blame it on but sheer sadness!

Ready to go with his new Batman backpack and lunchbox. I fretted over not getting him the LL Bean backpack with his name embroidered on it, but Randy told me that he is only five years old once in his lifetime and I should let him be a little boy for just one year!

It took the whole family to walk him to class with all his supplies!

Posing under the bulletin board outside his classroom. He was excited that his name was on a striped frog.
We walked in and set everything down where his teacher wanted it. Then it was time for good-bye!

The beginning of tears!
But I hand-picked his Kindergarten teacher, and I know that she is exactly what he needs!

The first of many pictures of Harrison and Mrs. Terrell together.
We went to Sonic after school to get him his first annual ice cream treat. It was a pleasant ending to a stressful day!

First Day of Fifth Grade

Caitlin was up before the sun this morning ready and raring to start her 5th grade adventure! I can't say I was that excited, but I was excited for her.
She picked out her new clothes last week...

and we received her backpack and lunchbox from UPS last week also.
I can't believe she is already in the 5th grade!!

Me and my baby girl (Thank goodness she still doesn't mind if I call her that! Although we do have a hand signal for "I love you" so that I don't embarrass her!)

Daddy and daughter before rushing off to school.
I picked her up this afternoon, and she couldn't stop talking about EvErYtHiNg that had happened today! She loves her teacher, her schedule, and most of all.....HER LOCKER!! Apparently that is why most kids look forward to 5th grade--so they can get that coveted locker. I'm so happy she had such a good day! We topped it off with our annual first day of school trip to the ice cream shop.

Police Women of Memphis

We took one last hurrah trip last weekend to Memphis. It was hot, hot, and very hot!! But we had fun being together as a family which is the main reason we went. It was not to see a wild police chase, but you sometimes get more than what you bargained for!
Randy had researched the restaurants of Memphis (maybe that's why he picked this particular city?) and found one that he really, really wanted to eat at. We didn't exactly know where it was on 2nd Street, so we had to do a little bit of walking around downtown Memphis to find it. As we were crossing a street, we saw two police women on their scooters in the street. Right after we were safely across (thank goodness!), a gold, pimped-out, 1978 Caddy comes FlYiNg around the corner and almost hits one of the police women. She yells at him to slow down, and he yells something back that was most likely obscene--luckily we didn't hear him. THEN two Memphis police cars come screeching around the same corner chasing him. They almost hit each other as they are turning another corner in the chase.
As all of this drama is unfolding, my sweet family is standing on the sidewalk with mouths open just watching it all. We really must have looked like out-of-town hicks! But it was something you would see on TV!!
And yes, we finally found the restaurant, but it was closed on Sundays! So we ate at a barbeque joint on Beale Street that happened to have an Elvis impersonator on Sunday nights. So for my little Elvis fan, it was a much more perfect restaurant!
And now we are home safe and sound in our little city that thankfully doesn't have the police drama of Memphis!

I Can See So Much Better Now!!

I took Caitlin to the eye doctor a few weeks ago for her yearly eye exam, and he was amazed at how much worse her eye sight has gotten.(Guess she takes after her mom after all?!?)
So she got to pick out new frames for her new lenses. This took an awful long time of trying on E.V.E.R.Y pair of frames in the kid section! But lo and behold...

she found a purple pair that we both agreed upon!
I think she looks so much older, but I am so happy that she"can see so much better now!"
