Girls Basketball Tournament

We travelled to Birmingham to watch the Bob Jones Girls Basketball Team play in the State Tournament against Hoover. Of course, they won!!! It is their second year in a row to win the State Title! We are so proud of the girls! Our good friend, Tim Mayer, is Assistant Coach to the Girls Team, so we are a little biased.

Yea!! They won!!

Go Bob Jones!!

Oh yeah...the Boys Basketball team played right after the Girls. However they were not so lucky. They lost to Vestavia Hills. Perhaps if they had Tim as one of their coaches....

Quiet Night at Home

On Friday after running errands and Dance class, Caitlin, Harrison and I met Randy for supper at Five Guys Burgers and Fries. Yum! We then headed home to our nice warm house for a quiet night together where we played games and lounged on the couch. What a perfect end to the week!

Helping with Supper

Caitlin and Harrison absolutely LOVE to help get supper ready. They love to help cook, set the table, make the drinks, and fix the plates. They just don't like the clean-up afterwards! Tonight Randy made spaghetti, and they were his good little helpers.

"Look! I set the table for you."

" Am I doing a good job?"
I know, I know...I am very spoiled to have such a wonderful family who will do all of this for me!

Spinning My Wheels

Have you ever felt as if you were busy, busy, busy, yet you never got a thing done?! Well, that is the way it has been this week. For some reason we just had a lot piled on our plates. Monday was a holiday, so the week started out very laid back. But...Tuesday night I had a meeting at church, Wednesday afternoon Caitlin had a make-up dance class, Thursday afternoon was Caitlin's regular dance day plus Pizza Inn Night for my school, and Friday was also her regular dance class. I was ready to collapse by then (which I did at about 8:30!). Then on to Saturday...we had birthday parties, Kids Market drop-off, shoe shopping, grocery shopping, plus the normal Saturday clean-up at our house. Whew!! It makes me tired just writing about it all. So nothing exciting really--nothing to take a single picture of! Except we did get to go over to our friends' house, Shannon and Tim, and eat a "Southern" meal of fried chicken and waffles. Never heard of it, but apparently the Food Network calls it a traditional Southern meal! (It WAS delicious) Hopefully next week will hold better photo opportunities for me and be much calmer!

Valentine's Day Walk

We went on a walk together for Valentine's Day because it actually turned out to be a pretty nice day, and Harrison was feeling much better. We just bundled him up and loaded him up into the stroller (he hasn't ridden in it since our trip to Disney last summer!). My mom (a.k.a. Ma-Ma) came and spent the afternoon with us, so it was a fun outing for all of us.

My favorite Valentines

Cookie Decorating

This morning our Sunday School class got together to decorate Valentine's cookies together. It was a lot of fun just like always. Harrison did not get to go due to his sickness, but Caitlin is the kind of big sister who offered to decorate some cookies for him! Randy and I feel very blessed to be a part of this wonderful Sunday School class. They have been there for us during good times and bad and have cooked us the most wonderful meals after moving into our new house, after Harrison was born, and after I had surgery last year. I can honestly say that there is no other place we would rather be at 10:30 on a Sunday morning than in Cornerstone Sunday School! AWWWW!!!! Well...it is Valentine's Day isn't it?!

My Sweet Valentine!

Barry, Robin, and Andrew Collier eating more than decorating, maybe?

Jonythan and Sam really got into their decorating.

Happy Valentine's Day!!

This was the scene at our house early this morning as we celebrated Valentine's Day right before eating Daddy's yummy French Toast!

How long can you survive....

...on 2 hours of sleep?! Harrison is still sick with this awful crud! The doctor told me on Monday that it was just a cold, and he should be over it by the weekend. WRONG!! He was up most of the night coughing and coughing. I feel so bad for the little guy! And at 2:45 I got a call from Ms. Rita, his beloved babysitter, that she took his temperature when he woke up from his nap. Guess what it was? 102.6!! So yes, we rushed right to the doctor. Now that little cold has developed into bronchitis! I just hate to see my precious little boy who runs around at 90 mph so sick. So...we will be spending our Valentine's Day curled up in pj's watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Imagination Movers. Quite a difference from the days before children when Valentine's Day meant a romantic night out at Pauli's! But I wouldn't trade it for the world!! (except for the sick part)

A Hard Day's Night

To quote the Beatles..."It's been a hard day's night..." Harrison coughed practically ALL night long and ran a fever that long as well so today was a sick day for me. We stayed at home in our pj's until I could get him into the doctor. I took him in because I wanted a chest x-ray done. Let's just say I am paranoid about pneumonia since we spent 2 nights at the hospital last year with the poor little guy! Everything was fine and clear, but Dr. Horton was definitely glad we came in and got everything checked out.
Anyway...during one of his short naps today, I found this poem that I thought fit my life. I wish I could take credit for writing it, but it is by this wonderful artist at 4 little men and girly twins.

my house is spotless, except when it's not picked up
my bathrooms sparkle, except after boys use it
I make a nutritious meal every night, except when we eat out
my children are not loud, except when they raise their voices
my laundry is always done, except when we wear clothes
my children obey the first time, except when they don't listen
the dishes are always clean, except when we use them
my toddler is potty trained, except when he wears a diaper
my spelling and grammar is perfect, except when I don't double check it
my children don't eat sugar, except when we have treats
we always use cloth diapers, except when we use disposables
my children clothes always match, except when they don't
my children always go to bed on time, except when they stay up late
we don't watch TV, except when we watch a movie
my children don't break dishes, except when they drop them
my children put their toys away, except when they leave them out
we read a bible story everyday, except when I forget
I never say anything wrong, except when I misspeak
I am never late, except when we're running behind
I am never stressed, except when I have too much to do
my marriage is perfect, except when I don't make it a priority
my children never act out in public, except when they are being unruly
there is no chaos in our house, except when we are homeI
am put together everyday, except when I don't take a shower
my hair looks perfect, except when I have a bad hair day
my babies sleep through the night, except when they wake up to eat
my windows are clean, except when little fingers touch them
I always finish my to-do list each day, except when I don't get it done
I am not selfish, except when I put myself first
I live my life for Jesus
I love my family
I am a sinner
I am not perfect
I am a regular mama
I can not do it all on my own
I am learning everyday
I do not know everything
I am just like you

All Dressed Up

Caitlin had one of her good friends, Sarah, over last night for a sleepover. They have only known each other since they were about six months old! They played outside on the trampoline and on Rush's seesaw, sang Hannah Montana songs, ate snacks, and just had a really good time together! I couldn't have asked for a better house guest! Here they are all dressed up ready to go to church this morning.

Fresh Air, Finally!

Yesterday we tried out the new Mill Creek Greenway with Caitlin and Harrison to get some fresh air. We are SO tired of being cooped up in our house!! It's a nice greenway, and Caitlin was able to be an independent girl and speed way ahead of us. Harrison had fun riding his Diego big wheel bike, but he kept stopping to inspect each stick and seed along the way, so it made for a long trek down the greenway!

Here we are at the beginning--everyone on their own vehicles with their own water bottles.

Look who's got the Diego big wheel bike and pirate water bottle at the end!!

Teachers just wanna have fun!!

Need I say any more?!?
This is Mary Beth, one of my friends who I
teach with at Cross Roads. We had a tropical
themed honeymoon bridal shower for another
first grade teacher this past week, and had a
"ball"!

I seriously think Randy was born in the wrong
decade!! His 4th grade class performed at
PTA on Tuesday night, and he dressed up
with them as 70's icons.

Memories

On this night, 17 years ago, I took Randy to my sorority Formal. It was the first formal date for the two of us because we started dating after high school and didn't get to go to Prom together (although I did wear my Prom dress!). We had been long-distance dating for a little over 6 months with me at Auburn and him at Jacksonville State. We were still getting to know each other and find out all those neat little things you have in common. One of my sorority sisters had invited his roomate, Calvin, so we had fun eating dinner together before we even got on the bus to go to Formal. It was a fun night that we will always remember!

I'm in the Super Bowl!!

Yes, Harrison kept saying that on Super Bowl Sunday after he heard "his" name announced at the beginning of the game. Little does he know that the Steelers James Harrison looks like this:
