Reunited

My good friend, Laura, and her family were back in town for a visit this week, and we were lucky enough to get to spend an entire day with them! You know they say that friends come into your life at just the right time? Well, Laura was my across-the-hall teaching buddy during one of my hardest years in teaching! I was so blessed to have her right there whenever I needed advice, a pep talk, or prayers! She and her family moved to Jamestown, Virginia, 2 years ago, but they love Alabama so much that they keep coming back for visits. I love that!!

Sitting out by the pool doing what we do best--chatting!

Laura's husband, Tom, kept the kids entertained in the pool for us.

And a visit to Alabama wouldn't be complete without a trip to Rosie's with some of our other teaching friends!

Prayers for Stellan

I have been following MckMama's blog for quite some time now. She is mother to 4 beautiful children. I really enjoy reading about their adventures, however her youngest child, Stellan, is in need of prayer. He was diagnosed with SVT while still in the womb and that has continued since his birth. He was flown to Boston earlier this year for an ablation, but apparently that did not work. They are now awaiting an air ambulance flight tomorrow to take him back to Boston for more heart surgery. I urge you to lift this family up in prayer.

Lake Weekend

We spent this weekend at one of my favorite places--my aunt and uncle's lakehouse at Lake Martin. We didn't think we were going to get to go because Harrison came down with the worst ear infection he has ever had! But by Saturday morning, he was ready to go! When we got there, we were met by my Aunt Bobbie and Uncle Joe, my cousin Olivia, her daughter, Laci, and her boyfriend, Bobby. My Mom and Dad were already down there as well as my sister, Dana, my brother-in-law, Scott, and my nephew and niece, Daniel and Stephanie. It was a house full!! We missed my Aunt Pat and her family who weren't able to come.
We spent our weekend swimming in the lake, talking, eating good home-cooked food, shooting off fireworks, playing games, and just catching up with each other at the beautiful setting of the lake.

Camping...

in the backyard is so fun and easy! We didn't have to pack, travel, set up an entire campsite, or start a fire. It was great!! We just walked out our back door after a yummy grilled supper and went to bed in the tents.

Caitlin started the night in the little yellow tent, but somehow she wound up in our tent by the morning. I can't say I blame her!

Countdown is On!!!

Yesterday we picked up Caitlin and Harrison's backpacks and lunchbox tags for the new school year. Yep....the countdown to school is officially on!!

I am so very sad because this means our fun-filled, family summer is about to be at an end! Also it means that my baby boy is starting Pre-school!!! How did this happen?!?
