Happy News!

Caitlin tried out this week for the Liberty Middle School Dance Team. She attended the dance clinic Tuesday through Thursday, and actual tryouts were on Friday at 4:00. We picked her up at 5:00 and learned that they would be posting the results at 6:30. Well she had her regular dance class to go to plus a birthday party after that. So her Daddy and I went up to the school at 6:30 to see the results. We were so nervous! She was too! I had her on the phone as I walked up to the gym door and read her the list. I think you could hear her scream all the way down the road!! After I picked her up this afternoon from her friend's house, we had to go by Liberty and take a picture of the results.
(By the way...she was #2!)
I'm so proud of her!! Another accomplishment to add to the books!

Big Party in Heaven

I have to brag on my kids today!

I think my baby girl is precious, but she really proved that point this weekend.

Ever since my Mama died in October, Harrison has been asking questions about God, Jesus, and Heaven. I knew the wheels in his head were turning! Caitlin told me Friday night that he had asked her all sorts of religious questions during the week while they were together at Grandmother and Grandaddy's. I was so proud of her when she told me exactly what they talked about and how she answered his questions.

As we were finishing up supper on Saturday night, Harrison pulled out a book entitled "Salvation." I asked him where he had gotten it, and he replied, "My big sister." (Envision swelled head of an eleven-year-old here!) We started talking about the book, and we ended the conversation with Harrison asking Jesus to come live in his heart!!!!!!

Caitlin then told him that Ms. Osborn and Ms. Lamb said that whenever a person prays that prayer, they have a HUGE party in Heaven. He said, "I bet Ma-Ma is having the biggest party of all! (And yes, he was probably right!)

It's moments like these that make you realize that maybe you are doing some things right with these precious children that God entrusted to you!

Happy Birthdy Pa-Pa!

Happy Birthday to my sweet Daddy! (Or Pa-Pa as he is known nowadays)

We tried to make today special for him since it's the first birthday he has had since the love of his life went to be with Jesus. The only problem was that he was sick! Just a bad cold, but he sure didn't feel like celebrating anything.

I hope to celebrate many more birthdays with this hero of mine!

Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.

Last Friday, March 2, was Dr. Seuss' birthday, so Harrison and I dressed appropriately...

Of course, we didn't get to do much celebrating because of the bad weather, sitting in the hallways, and coming home early. My class' celebration was put on hold until Monday. We made green eggs and ham, Cat in the Hat hats out of Oreos and LifeSavers, and the Cat's hat to wear to lunch. It ended up being a fun day a day late!

A Tornado Friday

This was what went through North Alabama Friday morning as my sweet First Graders were taking their Spelling Test. As soon as we heard the siren, they jumped up with their Reading books and lined up to go in the hallway. I guess that is one thing that April 27 taught them: to be prepared for bad weather! I had to comfort 2 of my girls because they lost their homes in the April tornado, but they were really okay through it all. We sat and sat and sat in that hallway for a looooooong time, but thankfully our school was not one of the ones hit. Three different schools in our area sustained damage to their buildings. I just can't imagine how scary it must have been for those teachers and students as they huddled together in their hallways and safe rooms while a huge storm was roaring outside! We were able to leave school early so that we could get home to our families, but it took me over an hour to reach my house (That drive normally takes me 25 minutes!) because of all the downed power lines and trees across the roads. I am just so thankful that there weren't more injuries and damage!

But Lord, please keep the tornadoes away!!!!
