First T-ball Practice of the Year

Harrison had his first T-ball practice yesterday. After all the rain we have had, we were a little worried what today would be like. Luckily we had a beautiful day to be outside.
Harrison is on the Reds which makes his Daddy much happier than last year. He was on the Red Sox last year which, if you don't know, is a mortal enemy to the Yankees--Randy's favorite baseball team of all time!

He's watching that ball! The little boy in orange is Bryce. His parents are in our Sunday School class, so that makes it nice that Harrison already knows him. What's funny is that there are 2 other boys whose parents are in our Sunday School class too! Don't know how that worked out, but we, parents, will have fun at the games together.

He did great at his first practice this year, and we can't wait to see him in action at the first game of the season. Caitlin also had fun because she got to hang out with an older sister of one of the boys on the team. They bonded over hot dogs and Ring Pops.

I think one of the best parts was...

eating popcorn on the ride home! OH how my children love food!!

I Love My Husband!

And do you know why?!?

Because he spent part of his off-day coming all the way out to my school to eat lunch with me and about 160 First Graders in the loudest place ever--our school lunchroom!!

Exciting News

I can finally post some extremely exciting news that I have had to keep secret for a week now...

my friend, Sarah, is pregnant!!!!

She and her husband have wanted a baby for sooooooooo long and have been enduring fertility treatments for over 4 years now.

God is so good...all the time...God is good!!!

Saturday was Picture Day for Caitlin's Dance Company.

After spending an hour getting ready...

this is what she and her friend, Kayla, looked like...

There was a costume change, and she emerged as...

Grumpy, one of the Seven Dwarfs. This is for their jazz dance, "I'm a Believer" from Shrek, so all the girls are nursery rhyme characters.

There were two other costume changes, but the photographers got behind schedule and we had to rush, rush, rush into the other two costumes. I didn't get pictures of the other costumes with my camera, but I can't wait to see the poses the photographer took.

It was a looooooong afternoon, but so much fun to play dress-up with my little girl especially since she doesn't play dress-up anymore at home!

Word Up!

With it being Dr. Seuss' birthday week, we had a Vocabulary Parade on Friday. Each child had to pick a word, dress up as that word, and make sure their word was visible somewhere on them. If they met all that criteria, they got to march in the parade around the school.
Harrison came up with his word on all his own (I am such a proud Mama!), and decided to dress as a king and be "royalty."

Here he is leading his group. I had several teachers tell me later in the day how serious he looked as he marched with his scepter. He wanted to do a good job as Grand Marshall, I suppose!

But we teachers couldn't let the students have all the fun...

Ms. Adams was "athletic", and I was "competitive." The kids got a big kick out of us!

Mrs. Delay was "jackpot." She did get called "pothead" a time or two!

And here is Mrs. Bess as "flamboyant" and Mrs. Weaver as "questionable."

It was a fun day that also involved selling snowcones for the American Cancer Society, so it was also a CrAzY day (but I love those kind!).

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Today would have been Dr. Seuss' 107th birthday. Wow! During his lifetime he wrote so many memorable books that are still as popular today as the day they were published. My favorite is still The Cat in the Hat. Amazing to think that there are only 60 words in the entire book!
Well today was "Read Across America" day, and we celebrated it BIG at my school.

To celebrate, I made cupcakes last night for Harrison's Kindergarten class:

And I heard they were pretty tasty. I hope so!

I then spotted Thing 1 and Thing 2 in the hallway:

After lunch, my class had two special visitors:

Two Huntsville Havoc hockey players came to my classroom and read One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish to my first-graders. They were very funny and made the kids laugh and laugh and not only at the book.

The kids absolutely LoVeD the guys! Maybe I have turned them into hockey fans:)

So we have had a busy day and have now settled down for the night. Hopefully we'll have a less eventful day tomorrow.
